How to solve a logic grid puzzle

Logic grids are little stories you solve by ruling out what cannot be true. You need no special knowledge, only the clues on the page.

1. Meet the categories

A puzzle might have three people, three keepsakes, and three places. Each person matches exactly one item in each other category, and each item belongs to one person.

2. Write down direct matches

If a clue says “June brought a shell,” mark that intersection ✓. Mark the other keepsakes in June’s row ×, and mark “shell” × for the other people. The game fills these exclusions when you mark a match.

3. Use exclusions

If “The person with a journal visited the cove,” and June did not visit the cove, then June could not have the journal. Bring clues together across the three grids.

4. Finish and check

Every row and column should have exactly one ✓. The people, items, and places must agree with every clue. Use Check my answer when you think you are done, or request a hint if you get stuck.
